Work Experience

Great Barr Health Conference On Wednesday October 1st 2014, over 300 students from Great Barr School were able to gain an insight into some of the 360+ different career types within the NHS, at a HealthTec Health Conference. The students spent the day working alongside experts from a variety of professions within the NHS and Public Health England, including Occupational Therapists and Respiratory Nurses, and beginning to develop the practical skills and experiences to prepare them for a career with the world’s 5th biggest employer.

The event saw young people learning how to deliver CPR on both adults and babies, the ways in which someone who is choking can be helped to survive, and how to demonstrate emergency care on a patient going into cardiac arrest, amongst many other skills.
